FNNNZ LOGO

This logo is a visual identity that honours the journey, values, and cultural heritage of Filipino nurses in Aotearoa New Zealand. It blends symbols from Filipino and Māori cultures, global nursing tradition, and the colours of the Philippine flag to reflect strength, care, growth, and unity.

THE LAMP

The central image is the Nightingale lamp, a universal symbol of nursing. It reflects:

✅ Compassion and care in service to others
✅ Hope and guidance in times of uncertainty
✅ Professionalism and dedication, carrying the legacy of Florence Nightingale

The Yellow Flame

The yellow flame embodies:

✅ Illumination and knowledge – the light nurses carry in healthcare and the warmth they offer patients
✅ The colour of the three stars and sun in the Philippine flag – symbolising freedom, sovereignty, and unity across the major regions of the Philippines
✅ Optimism, energy, and clarity – the forward-moving spirit of Filipino nurses in a new land

The Koru Handle

The koru is a spiral shape evoking a newly unfurling frond from a silver fern.
Shaped like a koru, a sacred spiral in Māori culture, the lamp’s handle represents:

✅ New beginnings and growth, as Filipino nurses establish lives in New Zealand
✅ Peace and harmony, embracing the values of te ao Māori
✅ The cyclical nature of life, honouring both origin and progress

The Anahaw Leaf

The anahaw, a national symbol of the Philippines, symbolizes:

✅ Resilience and strength, withstanding challenges both personal and professional
✅ Hard work and victory, embodying the migrant journey
✅ Pride in Filipino heritage, standing tall and graceful in a new place

Colours of the Philippine Flag

The colour palette draws directly from the Philippine flag:

✅ Blue: Peace, truth, and justice
✅ Red: Patriotism and the courage to serve
✅ White: Purity of intent and equality
✅ Yellow: Unity and national identity, inspired by the sun and stars

The “Maharlika” font

The “Maharlika” font was designed by Ismael Dayag. He is a graphic designer and typographer from Caloocan, Philippines.

This logo reflects who we are as Filipino nurses in New Zealand: grounded in culture, dedicated to service, and growing as a vibrant community.

We will begin using the logo in all official communications and representations of FNNNZ moving forward.
